This summer’s international tournaments have been accounted for in the new FIFA world rankings but Belgium have retained top spot.

Roberto Martinez’s side have been ranked the number one international side in the world since late 2018 and have remained there despite suffering a quarter-final exit at Euro 2020.

Eventual Euro 2020 winners Italy, who knocked Belgium out of the competition, rise two places to fifth, just behind the England side they defeated in the final.

Argentina are also on the rise, landing sixth after winning the Copa Amética but remain some way behind South American rivals Brazil in second.

USA have risen 10 places after their Gold Cup win to land 10th, their best ranking since 2006, when they climbed all the way to fourth.
