Fifa-approved VAR specialists to oversee Copa do Brasil semi-final

A number of decisions in the match between Cruzeiro and Palmeiras last week were taken to the Video Assistant Referees.

But a decision system that is supposed to rule out controversies actually inflamed them.

The officials in the opening game were appointed by the CBF, but those in the corridors of power have now confirmed that Fifa delegates will be in the VAR room for the return game.

Anderson Daronco and Wilton Pereira Sampaio were both at this summer’s World Cup as VAR specialists, and will undertake the same role at Cruzeiro on Thursday.
