Fifa announce 2019 The Best Player of the Year award winners

Lionel Messi has been crowned as Fifa’s men’s Player of the Year at their annual The Best awards ceremony in Milan.

He had been up against Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo for the top individual honour in the game.
