It's quite remarkable that Pepe is still going strong at the age of 38.
Now, in most walks of life, that number next to the age column is fairly low but when it comes to the sport of football, it's pretty darn high.
Few players throughout history have ever been able to perform at the very highest level of the professional game past the age of 36.
But Pepe is a bit of an anomaly and he's showing absolutely no signs of slowing down for both FC Porto and the Portugal national team.
In fact, his impressive form over the past year or so has seen him rewarded with a swanky new Ultimate Team card for FIFA 22.
The tigerish defender's overall rating has been boosted from 81 to 82 and his pace has also received a quite extraordinary upgrade of +14.
Pepe now possesses an overall value of 80 in that category, making him one of the fastest centre-backs on the game.
Not bad for a 38-year-old, eh?
Amazingly, Pepe's pace rating of 80 means that he's quicker than Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk on FIFA 22.
The Dutchman can only boast a value of 78...
It does seem odd that Van Dijk's pace isn't at least in the low 80s, as most football fans are aware that he's very speedy - especially for a man of his size.
Back in 2018/19, UEFA reported that the former Southampton man recorded the fastest sprint in the Champions League that season, clocking a speed of 34.5 km/h.
Now, he's behind a 38-year-old who is not exactly renowned for being lightning-quick. A tad bizarre, right?
Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger made his feeling towards the lowly pace rating he received on FIFA 22 public knowledge on Wednesday.
The German defender wrote on Twitter: "Come on @EASPORTSFIFA... 35,8 km/h top speed on the pitch and only 75 pace in FIFA22?! What do I need to get around 90 pace? 50 km/h?"
