Future Stars is a fantastic FIFA promo. The players involved are the rising stars in the world of football and EA provide them with special upgraded cards with boosted stats, some of which can be worth a significant amount on the transfer market.

But who was involved in the first-ever event? Did they live up to their name as a 'Future Star?' - find out right here at Give Me Sport.

Who was in the first-ever FIFA Future Stars Squad?

EA did a bang up job in predicting some of the worlds Future Stars back in 2019 - the whole squad is as follows:

Alban Lafont

Not as highly rated as he was intended, and probably never will be. Nevertheless, Alban Lafont has thus far had a decent career and is currently between the sticks at FC Nantes.

Grimaldo

Respectable. Grimaldo has showcased himself as one of the standout performers in Liga NOS and is still yet to have a lot of his career ahead of him. Where will he end up?

Ferland Mendy

A triumph. Ferland Mendy has locked down the left-back slot in Madrid and has won numerous trophies at a young age.

Matthijs de Ligt

Again, a great call. Although he struggled at a weak Juventus side, he is now thriving in Germany with Bayern Munich and has cemented himself as up there with the world's best defenders.

Joe Gomez

A career so far plagued by injuries, but Joe Gomez is still a tidy player. He will likely never surpass his predicted card, however, he is a fantastic squad player for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

Dayot Upamecano

Another current Bayern Munich centre-half in the form of Dayot Upamecano. The Frenchman is now an integral part of their backline after a shakey start and will only continue to improve.

Éder Militão

He's already surpassed his Future Stars item in FIFA 23 by being included in the Team of the Year, Eder Militao is amongst the greatest centre-halfs in the world right now. He's been ace for Madrid and will continue to prosper in years to come.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Although he's struggling in Jurgen Klopp's side at the moment, Trent Alexander-Arnold is a phenomenal right-back. He possesses fantastic technical ability and has lived up to, if not surpassed, his Future Star prediction.

Davide Calabria

Certainly not as good as his FIFA 19 card intended, but it's undeniable that Davide Calabria has been a fantastic servant thus far for AC Milan and will continue doing so for years to come.

Achraf Hakimi

Another gigantic success. Achraf Hakimi is one of the world's best full-backs. He is now an integral part of Paris Saint Germain's team and is balling with three of the best in Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Houssem Aouar

Well, what happened to Houssem Aouar? One that appeared to be destined for greatness, he now fluctuates in and out of the Lyon side. He could still come good, but for now, has been somewhat of a disappointment.

Arthur

Yet another who didn't really live up to the hype. Arthur was destined to be one of Barcelona's next great midfielders, but now even struggles to get into a depleted Liverpool midfield.

Rodrigo Bentancur

Don't judge this man by the card on the right. He has been one of Tottenham Hotspur's shining lights since his arrival from Juventus. EA got this spot on.

Mattéo Guendouzi

Matteo Guendouzi is a strange one. He has a sheer amount of talent, but disciplinary issues have stunted his growth so far. Nevertheless, still a solid player.

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz was sensational in the Bundesliga but hasn't really reached his full potential at Chelsea. Nevertheless, he'll get there. Scoring a Champions League final winner also more than justifies his inclusion in Future Stars.

Phil Foden

A fantastic player with ridiculous footballing ability. Phil Foden was always destined to be a star. He is currently tearing it up in the Premier League with Manchester City and is widely regarded as one of England's best assets.

Vinícius Júnior

Again, a player that was always going to make it. Vini Jr is one of the most exciting players in the world and he'll continue to dazzle defences in Madrid for years and years.

Justin Kluivert

It's always a tough task following in such big footsteps. Patrick Kluivert's son Justin was a fine Dutch prodigy however it seems he'll never really reach his potential.

Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho is world-class but is just going through a rough patch. Sancho has struggled massively since his big-money move to Old Trafford but we think he'll be back soon. Hell of a player.

Patrick Cutrone

The worst shout here by a country mile, after an unsuccessful spell in the Premier League at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Patrick Cutrone now finds himself playing his stuff in Serie B and is the only silver card on this list.

Luka Jović

The Serbian looked to have his big break when Real Madrid came knocking, but he struggled in La Liga and now finds himself struggling for goals in Serie A.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

He's had a couple of excellent seasons for Everton but has also been plagued with injuries. Still, a great striker - but with terrible dress sense.

Rafael Leão

Last but not least, an immense talent in Rafael Leao. He looks like one of the most promising youngsters in the world and is currently one of the star men in Milan.
