Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed it would be “scandalous” if Uefa were to punish them for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.
The French giants are alleged to have “overstated” some commercial deal they brokered last season in order to allow them to sign Neymar for a world record fee and potentially bring in Kylian Mbappé for over €150m as well.
As a result, European football’s governing body has confirmed it will look into the finances at the Parc des Princes.
However, the man in charge of the Ligue 1 side has hit back against suggestions there’s anything improper going on at Les Parisiens.
“For me, honestly, it would be surprising, abnormal and scandalous to be sanctioned,” he told L’Equipe.
“We’ve always followed the rules. It’s true that Uefa has been very hard during our talks and sometimes even unjust.
“We’ve done nothing wrong. They know where our money comes from, we don’t have any debts and we’ve given them guarantees.
“Other clubs in other leagues have debts. If you go to Spain, for example, there are many clubs in debt. We’re breaking even, so what do they want from us? They should leave us alone.”
