The Belgian side tweeted: “Timon Wellenreuther has completed the permanent move to Feyenoord. The RSCA wishes him good luck for the rest of his career.”

Wellenreuther, 27, joined the Arne Slot’s side in the summer on a loan basis where he made nine league appearances while number one choice Justin Bijlow recovered from a broken wrist.

His time on the pitch saw Feyenoord win all but one of their league matches and picked up a clean sheet against Groningen before Bijlow returned in their away match against Cambuur.

The move ends a three-year spell at the Belgian club where he made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Purple & White.

The German started his professional career at Schalke 04 where he worked up through the development squad before making his senior debut at 19 years old.

During his time at the German club, the goalkeeper joined Mallorca on loan where he played a role in avoiding relegation in the 2015/16 season while in the Segunda Division.

He joined Willem II in the Eredivisie in 2017 where he established himself as a first-team goalkeeper making 77 appearances in three seasons before joining the Belgian Pro League club – he did return to the Dutch club last season but could not help them avoid relegation to the Eerste Divisie last season.
