According to Voetbal International, Feyenoord are set to bring Bart Nieuwkoop back to De Kuip. The 27-year-old right-back left Feyenoord in 2021 to join Union Saint-Gilloise, where he’s developed nicely over two seasons. Now, he’s set to return to Rotterdam, where he’ll compete with Marcus Pedersen for the starting right-back spot.
Nieuwkoop experienced two super seasons with Union Saint-Gilloise. Last season the Dutchman featured 51 times in all competitions as the Belgian side finished in third place overall in the Pro League and progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League. He provided eight assists and scored four goals within those games. During the 21/22 campaign, Nieuwkoop 39 times. Overall, he played more matches in right-midfield than he did at right-back.
Before Bart Nieuwkoop left for Belgium, he spent six years in the Feyenoord first team. The former Netherlands youth international won one Eredivisie title, two KNVB Cups and a Super Cup during his time at De Kuip. Now, he’s said to be looking forward to returning to the current Dutch champions.
