De Telegraaf reports that Feyenoord have increased their asking price for Lutsharel Geertruida. This week the Dutch champions received two offers for the 22-year-old defender from RB Leipzig. Both bids were swiftly rejected as they were deemed to be too low. One offer was reported to be worth around €20m. Feyenoord want significantly more than that.

Geertruida can play as a right-back, centre-back or defensive midfielder. Last season the three-time Netherlands international played 17 times as a right-back and 19 times in the centre of the Feyenoord defence.

Recently it was reported that Barcelona were also interested in the defender. He’s fast, physical and versatile, which are attributes that will help him fit into any top European club. On Tuesday Leipzig reached an agreement on personal terms with Geertruida. However, the Bundesliga giants must make an improved offer if they want the deal to go ahead. The player’s current contract is valid until 2025 and Feyenoord do not want to sell the Dutchman.

Feyenoord’s technical director Dennis te Kloese has not revealed exactly how much the club wants for Geertruida. However, they’re reportedly asking for a fee close to the price that Arsenal are set to pay Ajax for Jurriën Timber (€40m). This summer Feyenoord sold their star man Orkun Kökçü to Benfica for €30m. If Leipzig pay more than that for Lutsharel Geertruida, the Dutch defender will become Feyenoord’s record sale.
