Feyenoord have resigned to the fact they will not be able to sign Ramiz Zerrouki from league rivals FC Twente in this transfer window, Voetbal International reports.
The club management of the team from Rotterdam spoke to Twente’s technical director Jan Streuer today and was told that Zerrouki is only for sale in the summer, despite Feyenoord wanting to bring the midfielder to De Kuip this month.
Feyenoord have been looking for a midfielder to bolster their side’s chances to win the Eredivisie but with key players Gernot Trauner and Quinten Timber still out they were hoping to bring the Dutch-born Algerian international in this transfer window.
General manager Dennis te Kloese was keen to complete the deal in this transfer window and was prepared to push the boundaries with an €8 million bid but is resigned to the fact the Eredivisie leaders will not get their top transfer target this season.
“We have done everything we can to get this player without losing sight of the club’s interest,” he said. “But for us there is also a limit and it stops somewhere. I feel sorry for us and also for the player.“
