“The home crowd was very impressive tonight,” he said. “Mourinho had asked for 67,000 fans to join them and they did. This is why I respect my team who played courageously despite a heated atmosphere.”

“In the end it wasn’t enough because Dybala scored a fantastic goal and in extra time we couldn’t rely on the energy of our fans.”

In his post-match interview with ESPN.NL, Slot added, “Mourinho? He told me that I shouldn’t just watch Napoli and Manchester City, but that it would also help if I watched Roma play. Well, maybe he’s right because they have to be paid a big compliment for the attitude they showed tonight.”

“We know how good Mourinho is at taking players to the limit. The team fought for him. If you can win against this Feyenoord, you must be very good.”
