Fernando Torres has announced his retirement from football after a glittering career which spanned 18 years.

It took him from boyhood heroes Atlético Madrid to Sagan Tosu in Japan, where he will hang up his boots.

But the best period of his career was undoubtedly spent at Liverpool, where he did great damage and was a hero to the Anfield faithful.
