Atlético Madrid youth coach Fernando Torres is set to take on a new role for the 2024/25 campaign.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, amongst a host of other sources in the Spanish media, across the day to date.
Ex-frontman Torres, for his part, has spent the last three years in charge of Atlético de Madrid Juvenil, the club’s U19 outfit.
And, across this time, the 40-year-old has gone on to thoroughly impress.
Torres’ troops were recently crowned Juvenil División de Honor champions, making it two league titles in three years for the former Liverpool man.
Not only that, but he managed to guide the Rojiblancos to the final four of the UEFA Youth League for the first time in the club’s history.
In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to hear of Torres’ efforts on the sideline being deservedly rewarded.
As per the aforementioned MD, the tactician is primed to make the step up to Atlético B, for next season.
Current reserve team boss Luis García Tevenet will see his contract terms expire in the summer, with Torres having long been considered the most logical replacement.
Tevenet, meanwhile, could yet be afforded a place on Diego Simeone’s first-team staff.
