Sevilla’s clear-out has started, and AS are reporting that Fernando Reges, who has twice won the Europa League with Sevilla, will leave this January after four and a half years at the club. The 36-year-old will join Brazilian side Vasco da Gama, where he will sign a two-year deal.
The midfielder was planning on joining the club in the summer on a free when his contract runs out, but his shoulder injury that will sideline him for two months, combined with a lack of playing time, has propelled the move and spells an end to his Sevilla career. He has featured very little under head coach Diego Alonso and has appeared to struggle with the pace of the league. His desire to move club reflects his conviction that his career at the club is over.
Fernando made a total of 157 appearances at the club, scoring a total of six goals and providing nine assists.
