América manager Fernando Ortiz has taken responsibility for his side’s disappointing defeat at Tijuana on Saturday night.
Returning to Liga MX action after two high-profile friendlies against Chelsea and Manchester City, the Azulcrema slumped to their second loss in their opening four Apertura games.
It leaves them outside the play-off positions and struggling to live up to expectations.
“A cold and quick analysis. They played badly. When one interprets that they play badly, the result sometimes indicates a defeat,” Ortiz said afterwards.
“I think they take much more than what they raised on the field. We must admit that we did not have a good night.
“You have to think about the next game. When things don’t work out, you have to show your face. I’m responsible. It wasn’t played well.”
Las Águilas have yet another friendly to fulfil when they face Real Madrid in San Francisco on Tuesday before returning to domestic action at León on Sunday.
