Club America has yet to win a game in the 2023 Liga MX Clausura.

The team drew 2-2 against Puebla on Saturday night at the Estadio Azteca, propelling the Eagles to a three game winless streak. Goals from Alejandro Zendejas and Henry Martin initially earned Club America the edge, before being canceled out by efforts from Gaston Silva and Emanuel Gularte to earn each side one point.

But with just three points in the last three games, America head coach Fernando Ortiz insists the team is not in ‘crisis mode’ yet.

"I do not see the crisis, It is something worrying to call, yes, with respect to the goals that they are scoring against us, but for the rest I am calm," he said.

"I fully trust the players. The players I decide to start with in each game we have played on these three dates are convinced that we always go out to win. I understand the fans, that it can be frustrating that way but I tell them to stay calm, that the team always goes out to win on each field, but there will always be dissatisfaction because it is the biggest club in Mexico.”

The Eagles set the bar high in the 2022 Apertura, making history by concluding the tournament in first place with 38 points in 17 games and a record of 12W-3L-2D.

But now, after three weeks, the team has fallen to 12th place in the league to inspire heavy criticism from supporters.

"Difficult, the start that we are having, but we have to continue working. it's the only solution, we have good things at times but we cannot have those oversights; above all we have to take advantage of all that we have and below we cannot allow that definitively,” added forward Henry Martin.

"No, I don't think [the critiques] are unfair. We are not taking advantage of the opportunities, I repeat, we cannot make those mistakes that have been costing us since the last tournament and that left us out of the final. We have to aim at that, work on it even though the tournament is starting, we have much to improve."

The team returns to action on Saturday against Mazatlan for another chance at their first victory of the new tournament.
