Fernandinho’s strike in City’s 4-0 win away to Leeds has been awarded the most powerful goal of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

The Brazilian came off the bench to round off the scoring at Elland Road as Pep Guardiola’s men took another step towards a fourth title in five years.

Goals from Rodrigo, Nathan Ake and Gabriel Jesus had put City in control in west Yorkshire, but there was still time for the captain to unleash a vicious first-time drive into the bottom corner of Illan Meslier’s net deep into stoppage time.

Fernandinho’s second Premier League strike of the season rounded off an afternoon where he also made his 260th Premier League appearance, more than any other Brazilian in the competition’s history.

The 37-year-old brought down the curtain on an illustrious nine years at the Club following our dramatic final day win over Aston Villa four weeks later, taking his personal tally up to five Premier League titles.

The award, in partnership with Oracle, calculates which Premier League strike had the fastest average speed from being struck to crossing the line.

And of the 1,071 goals scored across the entire campaign it is Fernandinho who has come out on top to scoop the award.

Congratulations to Fernandinho on being awarded the Premier League’s most powerful goal.
