Chelsea will lock horns with Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium this Saturday evening as they try to grind out a win in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. The Blues managed to secure a dominant 6-0 win over Everton recently which should give them a ton of confidence ahead of this game.

Mauricio Pochettino will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to name a strong first XI for this game. Enzo Fernandez is a major doubt for this game but could play from the start of this contest if he can pass a late fitness test.

Defence

Dorde Petrovic will feature in between the sticks for the Blues after keeping a clean sheet in his last domestic outing. Thiago Silva will operate alongside Trevoh Chalobah at the centre of Chelsea’s backline as they look to keep the Man City attackers frustrated during the game.

Malo Gusto will try to catch the eye as the right-back while Ben Chilwell hopes to give a good account of himself as the left-back. Both of them will be instructed to keep a solid defensive shape at the back so that they can limit the chances Man City create from the wide areas.

Alfie Gilchrist will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Enzo Fernandez will operate along with Moises Caicedo at the centre of Pochettino’s midfield as they try to make life tough for the opposition in the middle of the park. The talented trio of Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer will play just ahead of them as part of Chelsea’s attack.

Palmer scored four goals against Everton, so he would be full of confidence going into this cup clash at Wembley.

Carney Chukwuemeka will have to settle for a spot on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Nicolas Jackson will lead the charge for the West London club in the final third. He has to find a way to cause some problems for the Man City defenders during the 90 minutes.

Noni Madueke will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if the Blues are in need of a goal by then.
