For now, Portugal’s attention will be on Germany who they will face this Saturday. With the Germans needing a win to stay alive in the competition, Fernandes and co are in for a difficult night. France meanwhile takes on minnows Hungary.

A loss for Portugal will increase the stakes for the showdown against France. While we don’t like to play favourites, it is fair to say that international competitions throw up their own dramatic moments.

Both Fernandes and Pogba were amongst United’s best players this past season. While the former led the club in both goals and assists, the latter scored a number of key goals that saw us briefly go top of the Premier League.

It is fair to say that a strong summer could see them return to Old Trafford in the best mindset. After another trophyless campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need his best players to step up next season.

  • Manchester United co-owner Joel Glazer respond to criticism from club legend Gary Neville
  • Man United return with a £21.5million bid for Kieran Trippier
  • Manchester United wonderkids Mason Greenwood and Amad Diallo nominated for the Golden Boy award

It has so far been an excellent Euros for United stars. Victor Lindelof and Paul Pogba picked up the man of the match awards while Fernandes also played a key role in Portugal’s win. Whether any of them will go all the way remains to be seen.
