Sir Alex Ferguson was at Carrington today amid pressure growing on Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Manchester Evening News says Ferguson and the former United chairman Martin Edwards are understood to have been present at the club's Carrington training ground, where Solskjaer arrived early this morning for the first-team's training session.
Sources insist Solskjaer is still on borrowed time as United manager but the club have failed to identify a replacement.
Solskjaer verbally agreed to replace Jose Mourinho as caretaker manager two months prior to his appointment on December 19 2018. Solskjaer flew to Manchester in October and attended United's 1-0 home defeat to Juventus in the Champions League group stage.
Dismissing Solskjaer was not considered an option by the United hierarchy prior to Sunday's 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool but there has been a shift at boardroom level and consideration was given to sacking Solskjaer on Monday.
