Manchester City could now be set for a bidding war on their hands when it comes to the future of long-standing mainstay goalkeeper Ederson.

The Brazil international has been at the Etihad Stadium since 2017 and has played a central role in Pep Guardiola’s most successful years. However, with just under 12 months left on his current deal, speculation over his future has intensified during the ongoing transfer market.

Saudi Arabia were the first to test the waters last year, with approaches from multiple Pro League sides falling short of City’s demands. More recently, Galatasaray launched a bold push, with the Turkish champions seeing an opening bid rejected by City officials.

Adding to the intrigue, City have also been monitoring replacements should Ederson depart. Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma has been heavily linked, with reports indicating that the Italian would be the immediate arrival if the Brazilian goalkeeper exits.

But with Galatasaray struggling to find an agreement with Manchester City before the close of the window in England and Turkey, one of their closest rivals is aiming to take advantage and swoop in for the player.

According to the exclusive information of journalist Fabrizio Romano, fellow Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are now working on a deal to sign Ederson from Manchester City in the final days of the summer transfer window.

It is further detailed that Fenerbahçe have entered the race for the Brazilian goalkeeper and are trying to get a deal done following Galatasaray’s rejected €10 million bid rejected. Furthermore, should Ederson make a move, Gianluigi Donnarumma will join Manchester City.

Additional reporting from Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reveals that Fenerbahce have proposed a €12 million transfer fee for Ederson.

The arrival of Fenerbahce into the race creates a fascinating late dynamic in what has already been one of the summer’s most dramatic transfer sagas.

While Galatasaray remain strongly interested, the increased competition may drive the asking price closer to Manchester City’s valuation, with Ederson having been a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola’s success for eight full seasons.

For Manchester City, the situation presents both risk and opportunity; losing Ederson would be a significant change to their stability, but the arrival of a world-class replacement like Donnarumma could also signal the start of a new era between the posts at the Etihad Stadium.

With the clock ticking down towards the deadline, the next 48 to 72 hours are expected to be decisive. All eyes will be on whether Manchester City hold firm or allow Ederson to make the move that could reshape their squad structure before the season intensifies.
