Süper Lig giants Fenerbahçe have entered talks with Olympique de Marseille over the signing of Turkish international winger Cengiz Ünder (26), according to a report from L’Équipe. The French publication understands that the Istanbul-based outfit have yet to submit a bid to their Phocéens counterparts. Ünder initially joined Marseille on loan from AS Roma in 2021, and the Ligue 1 outfit made his move permanent the following year with an €8m transfer fee. The former Leicester City FC player is tied to Marseille on a contract set to expire in 2025.
Given the Marcelino-led side have officially signed Watford winger Ismaïla Sarr yesterday, questions have been asked on whether Marseille would retain Ünder. L’Équipe understand that the 49-time Turkish international would not mind returning to his homeland. As for OM, they are reportedly waiting for a “concrete and significant” offer to part ways with the 26-year-old. Ünder has registered 18 goals and 12 assists in 93 games played with Les Phocéens.
