Following a promising second half of the campaign, many expected Arda Guler to explode at Real Madrid this season, despite the arrival of Endrick and Kylian Mbappe.

Unfortunately, however, the Turkish youngster has endured a difficult campaign so far. He has fallen behind in the pecking order, with coach Carlo Ancelotti reluctant to utilise his services.

Despite his limited game-time, Guler has avoided the idea of leaving Real Madrid on loan in the upcoming January transfer window.

But given the worsening situation with Ancelotti, the Turk may have no option but to seek a temporary exit.

Fenerbahce emerge as likely suitor

To that end, a recent report from Fichajes has indicated that Fenerbahce have emerged as the likely destination for Guler, should he leave Real Madrid in January.

The Turkish giants are ready to bring the youngster back and offer him the platform to once again showcase his abilities at the highest level.

Guler himself has a close bond with Fenerbahce, having risen through the youth ranks to become a star player, before eventually joining Real Madrid.

As per the report, Fenerbahce see Guler as someone who can help the club execute their sporting plans this season. They are also planning to come up with an official bid in January.

As for Real Madrid, the club may appear apprehensive about sanctioning the exit of Guler, given their struggles with injuries.

But given how Ancelotti has neglected the midfielder so far this season, a move away from Santiago Bernabeu could indeed prove to be the most logical outcome.

The youngster, though, has remained patient so far, but just how long that patient lasts remains to be seen.
