Federico Valverde’s incredibly powerful short while playing for Uruguay earlier this year is going viral.

Earlier this week, the Real Madrid midfielder made headlines after he wiped out Iran players on three separate occasions with his powerful shots.

You certainly don’t want to get in the way of a Valverde shot, that’s for sure.

And it may be because of what happened earlier this week that a Valverde shot during Uruguay’s 1-0 victory over Peru in a World Cup qualifier in March is doing the rounds on social media.

On that occasion, Valverde didn’t injure anyway. Nor did he score. Instead, it was the crossbar that felt the full force of Valverde’s ridiculous power as his 30-yard strike cannoned off the woodwork.

It was a strike so powerful that it’s gone viral on Twitter this week with fans in disbelief at just how hard Valverde kicked it.

Just look at how much the ball moves from behind the goal:

How has Valverde been doing this season?

Valverde has been in incredible form for Real Madrid this season.

The 24-year-old has featured in every La Liga game this season, bagging three goals during that time. In fact, he’s scored two in his last two matches with a terrific strike against Real Mallorca and a winner against Atletico Madrid. As a result, he picked up the La Liga Player of the Month award for September.

And his manager, Carlo Ancelotti, believes he will be a leader for the club in the future.

“He is a leader and Federico is very, very important to us”, as per Ancelotti’s post match interview with Marca.

“He’s doing very well, he’s very humble, and this can help him to be a leader in the future.”

Valverde and Uruguay at the World Cup

We’re very much looking forward to watching Valverde in action at the World Cup – and will be looking out for his incredibly powerful shots.

Uruguay face Portugal, Ghana and South Korea in their World Cup group – a group that is fascinating and difficult to predict.

But with Valverde in this kind of form, as well as the likes of Luis Suarez, Darwin Nunez and Rodrigo Bentancur you wouldn’t want to bet against the South American side of reaching the latter stages of the tournament.
