Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has been one of the standout performers anywhere in European football so far this season.
The 24-year-old has scored seven goals and provided two assists in all competitions for Los Blancos so far this term.
He’d never scored more than three goals in a season prior to the current campaign but has found the net seven times already this term – and most of those goals have been out of this world.
We’re not even in November yet but Valverde has already netted these golazos so far this season:
The Uruguay international scored his latest screamer in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Sevilla on Saturday evening.
Last month Carlo Ancelotti joked that he should retire if he couldn’t get Valverde into double figures for the season.
“What was strange last year was that he only scored one goal, in the Super Cup I think,” Ancelotti told reporters, per the Daily Mail.
“If you can’t get a player like that to score at least 10 goals in a season then you should rip up your coaching badge and retire.
“Because he has a rock of a foot. Tonight he took the shot with his left foot. I’ve never seen him shoot like that with his left, so it shows he’s confident in his abilities, and he has a lot of abilities.
“He’s more than just energy. But, to say he’s best in the world in his position, we might have to wait a little longer.”
Valverde looks set to head into next month’s World Cup in Qatar full of confidence.
But there was a moment on Saturday where every Uruguayan would have held their breath following a nasty challenge by Sevilla substitute Papu Gomez.
Many football fans can’t understand how the Argentine avoided a straight red card in the final minutes of Saturday’s game.
Nowhere near the ball, Gomez inexplicably stamped on Valverde’s ankle, leaving his fellow South American on the ground in pain.

Valverde was very fortunate that he was able to get back to his feet.
However, Ancelotti confirmed that Valverde was still feeling pain after the match and is now a doubt for Tuesday’s Champions League clash away at RB Leipzig.
