Inter are no longer planning to sign a left-wing-back this summer, with the club deciding to give loan returnee Federico Dimarco more responsibilities in lieu of a new signing.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the club have been convinced by the 23-year-old’s performances in pre-season, and will no longer look to bring in another left-sided player despite the departure of Ashley Young.

Earlier in the window the Nerazzurri had been linked with a number of left-sided players, with the arrival of the right profile thought to be a priority after Ashley Young’s departure for Aston Villa and Ivan Perisic’s sale a possibility.

However, it now appears that the club will rely on the players they already have in the squad, with Dimarco in particular set to be handed a significant role in the squad during the upcoming season.

Dimarco returned from a loan with Hellas Verona this summer, where he had impressed under Gialloblu manager Ivan Juric, but it was not immediately clear what the Nerazzurri intended for the player’s future with a number of clubs thought to be interested in signing him.

However, after impressing the club with his displays in pre-season, Dimarco will be given the opportunity to make the left-sided role his own, while Perisic could also remain at the club, and no players will be signed.
