Newly promoted FCV Dender handed Kortrijk a humbling defeat as they remained unbeaten to start the Belgian Pro League season. Vincent Euvrard’s side produced an impressive display and scored some eye-catching goals as they won 4-1. Kortrijk were not helped by a red card to Mark Mampassi in the second half.
Dender opened the scoring with a well worked move that saw a number of one touch passes eventually find Roman Kvet in the box. The midfielder, on loan from Plzen, made sure the move remained a series of only one touches as he turned it home. Bruny Nsimba scored another wonderful goal as his dipping volley made it 2-0, although this soon became 2-1 when Takuro Kenenko got his first goal for Kortrijk.
The away sides hopes were short lived however, Mohamed Berte came off the bench to grab his second goal for the side since joining from Oostende. Mampassi was then shown a yellow card, with Berte getting a second to make it a 4-1 win for the side. With a draw against Union St Gilloise and a win over Gent, this result caps a great start for a side that are expected to be in the relegation battle come the end of the season.
