FC Twente drawn as Champions Lague oppponents

First leg at home

The draw in Nyon, Switzerland today determined our opponents in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League!

We are to face FC Twente of the Netherlands.

It is confirmed that we will play the first match at home in our Red Bull Arena on 6 or 7 August, while the second leg will take place away the following week on 13 August. The exact kick-off times are due to be announced by UEFA on 26 July. Incidentally: Ahead of our matches against FC Twente, we will find out our possible play-off opponents on 5 August.

We are really pleased that we can get our European campaign started soon. I can really sense the fire from everyone at the club and among our fans. These Champions League nights against big opponents from across Europe, even if it just qualification for now, is something very special. We have to earn the right to be in the best club competition in the world, however. Twente have developed incredibly well in the past three years. They have a very clear and well organised way of playing. You can see that they are well coached and play as a team. That they came third behind PSV and Feyenoord says a lot about them. A special thing about Twente also is the atmosphere at their stadium with their fans. It will be a special and difficult match.

I don't know a lot yet about our Champions League opponents. It can't do us any harm to have a Dutch coach though. I'm sure he can gauge the opponents well and will have enough information to ensure that we are fully prepared for the clash. Clearly all opponents at this level are extremely strong, and we will need two top performances to make the play-off.

Sales phase 1 starts on Tuesday 23.07.2024 at 10:00. All 2024/25 season-ticket holders are entitled to purchase tickets. Existing season-ticket seats are reserved until Friday 26 July 2024. As well as buying their usual seats for a special price, season-ticket holders can get as many additional tickets as they want at full price. Holders of a Premium season ticket will have the cost of a match ticket automatically debited from their accounts on Wednesday 24 July, and the match will be added to their tickets.

Discounted price: For schoolchildren, apprentices, students, pensioners, military recruits and those performing community-based national service, youngsters (aged 14 to 17 included) and disabled people
