Antwerp head to Portugal having to pick up at least a point if they want to challenge for third place in their Champions League group. The Belgian champions have lost all three of their opening games, with two of these coming at home. They would have hoped to at least pick up a win and a draw at home to give themselves a chance, but now they must travel to face a Porto side that recently beat them 4-1 at home.
At half-time it had been going well for Mark van Bommel’s side, with Alhassan Yusuf having given them a 1-0 lead. However, Evanilson’s second half hat-trick and a goal from Stephen Estaquio meant that the game ended 4-1 to the away side. If the Great Old could somehow pick up a draw away from home, they could get third spot with a win over Shakhtar Donetsk, as long as Porto and Barcelona beat the Ukrainian side.
Antwerp will be coming into the game with some confidence, having beaten title chasing Genk 3-2 at home. However, they once again almost surrendered a first half lead, as they went into the break 3-0 up.
