SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – FC Motagua and CD Águila drew 2-2 in the second leg of their series in the Play-In round of the 2024 Concacaf Central American Cup on Wednesday at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador.
CD Águila took the lead in the 31’ with a header from Dixon Rivas inside the penalty area.
Luis Vega was sent off in the 38’ after receiving a second yellow card, leaving Águila with ten players for the remainder of the match.
Carlos Mejía equalized for Motagua early in the 54’ with an individual play and chip over the goalkeeper inside the box.
A penalty conversion from Agustín Auzmendi in the 64’ gave the visitors the lead.
Edgar Medrano scored the final goal of the game to tie in the 68’ with a left-footed finish inside the box.
Motagua won the series 4-2 on aggregate to secure a spot in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
