Malick Mbaye faces around three weeks on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury during training. The Senegalese winger will therefore miss FC Metz’s opening Ligue 1 fixtures.

The news was broken by Socios FC Metz, who reported the injury occurred before the friendly against Hoffenheim. Absent for that encounter, Mbaye’s team suffered a heavy 8-0 defeat.

Although the initial prognosis puts his absence at three weeks, Mbaye could be out for longer. The exact duration will be determined after he consults a specialist on Wednesday.

Loaned to Amiens for the 2024-2025 season, Malick Mbaye scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 12 Ligue 2 appearances.

The Grenats kick off their campaign at home against Strasbourg this Sunday, August 17, at 3:15 pm GMT.
