Cheikh Tidiane Sabaly is on the verge of joining Middlesbrough. The English EFL Championship club is aiming to finalize the arrival of the Senegalese left winger from FC Metz, who is under contract with the Grenats until June 2026, in the coming days.

Cheikh Sabaly is about to take a major step forward in his career. The 26-year-old Senegalese forward has attracted strong interest from Championship side Middlesbrough. According to Footmercato, negotiations between both parties have moved quickly in recent hours, with an agreement now appearing imminent. The player, impressed by the club’s sporting project in North Yorkshire, could be heading to England before the summer transfer window closes.

FC Metz, who have just returned to Ligue 1 this season, are at risk of losing one of their most decisive talents. The Senegalese attacker played a crucial role in the club’s promotion last year. The fourth-highest scorer in Ligue 2 (2024/25), Cheikh Sabaly netted 15 goals and provided 4 assists in 34 appearances in the French second division last season. His departure would be a significant blow to Metz’s attacking options, just days before the new campaign kicks off.
