FC Dordrecht become the first Dutch club to stop using X

FC Dordrecht are discontinuing their activity on social media platform X. The club announced this, citing ‘changes in the nature and content of the platform’ as the reason.

Late last year, several German clubs announced their departure from the platform, including St. Pauli and then Werder Bremen. St. Pauli stopped because X has become ‘an amplifier of hate’. Dordrecht is the first Dutch club to stop X.

‘The acquisition of X by xAI has led to changes in the character and content of the platform. At FC Dordrecht, respect, inclusivity, and reliability are paramount. We do not want to be associated with a platform where these values are under pressure. That is why we have decided to end our activities on X and continue our communication via other channels,’ Dordrecht said in a statement.

Dordrecht say that the club will continue to publish through its own channels, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and LinkedIn.
