FC Cincinnati mutually part ways with Haris Medunjanin ahead of PEC Zwolle move | OneFootball

FC Cincinnati are mutually parting ways with midfielder Haris Medunjanin, the club announced Thursday.

Medunjanin has spent three years with the Orange and Blue, making 71 appearances and scoring four goals across all competitions following a previous spell with the Philadelphia Union.

It will be Medunjanin's former club that will be the opponent for his final MLS game as a Cincinnati player, with the two parties going their separate ways in order for the midfielder to return to Europe and be closer to his family.

“Haris’ elite qualities as a player are well known and admired around MLS,” FC Cincinnati general manager Chris Albright said in a club press release. “But his character and professionalism are what set him apart from so many others. I’d like to thank him for his time here with us at FC Cincinnati and wish him and his family the best of luck and happiness.”

Medunjanin is understood to have already agreed a deal with Dutch side PEC Zwolle, who are playing in the second tier this season having suffered relegation from the Eredivisie.

“It’s been a blessing to play for Cincinnati,” said Medunjanin. “To be able to play my final game against Philadelphia, where I had great memories as well, means a lot to me. I’d like to thank my teammates, coaches, and most of all the fans who supported me during my time in the league.”
