Jean-Clair Todibo made history on Sunday afternoon for all the wrong reasons.

The Frenchman was in the starting lineup for Nice’s Ligue 1 clash against Angers at Allianz Riviera.

But he was on the pitch for just nine seconds before being sent off.

Yes, you are reading that right. Todibo really was sent off nine seconds after the final whistle blew.

Angers took kick-off and immediately charged towards Nice’s goal.

The away side produced some intricate passing as they caught Nice napping.

Abdallah Sima looked to have gone clear on goal but was stopped in his tracks by Todibo, who sent his opponent crashing to the floor.

The referee for the match, Bastien Dechepy, did not hesitate at all as he pulled out a red card and sent off Todibo for committing a professional foul.

The 23-year-old protested the decision but his pleas fell on deaf ears and he was made to return to the dressing room.

Imagine being sent off after just nine seconds. Todibo’s day couldn’t have gone any worse.

Todibo has gone into the history books – but not in the way he would have wanted.

Per FotMob, his sending off was the fastest card – yellow or red – shown in Ligue 1 since Opta started collecting data in the 2006/07 season.

Nice fall to defeat

It’s unsurprising that Nice ended up on the losing side after being reduced to 10 men so early in the game.

Nabil Bentaleb’s 43rd minute goal gave the away side the lead.

Angers were actually reduced to 10 men themselves when Sofiane Boufal was given his marching orders in the 63rd minute.

But Angers held on to clinch all three points.
