…the situation after the players returned from international duty: After such an intense international break, it’s always quite difficult to get the lads focussed on the next game and to find the right balance in terms of workload for each individual player. But the players are also used to that. Ramy Bensebaini, Yann Sommer and Nico Elvedi will rejoin training on Friday. Yvandro Borges Sanches had to miss today’s session due to a muscular problem and he is currently a doubt for the game. We’ll be monitoring his situation and we’ll have to make a late decision.

…the current fitness of Alassane Plea and Marcus Thuram: Lasso is out of rehabilitation and is partially integrated in team training after his groin injury. It was quite taxing for him today so he certainly won’t be able to play 90 minutes but he could be an option for the squad. Marcus Thuram trained both today and on Wednesday without problems so I assume that he will play.

…the upcoming opponents Werder Bremen: Werder aren’t your typical promoted side and they are a real bedrock of the Bundesliga. They have done really well so far, they have a good team spirit and are still full of confidence after last season. As a promoted team, they want to pick up points in their home games and a Saturday night clash under the floodlights certainly isn’t the worst occasion for that. I think Ole Werner has done a great job there. His side are clear about what they need to do and how they want to play. I like their northern mentality and we are full of respect for our opponents.

...what he expects from the game: It will be a really difficult but a really interesting test. It is paramount that we remain fully focussed, even in the difficult moments. It will be a tight game and our preparations weren’t ideal because of the international break. We need to show our resilience in games like these. The WESERSTADION can create some real energy and Werder are a very traditional club, you can feel that in every sense. But we became footballers in order to compete in fervent atmospheres. We are spurred on by the fact that we want to show our quality and we are very much looking forward to the game.

…the Foals’ performances thus far: We are happy with our start to the season. I have to compliment the boys in that regard. We have said all along that we want to consolidate this season, we want to be difficult to beat and we want to sure up our defence. We’re very much on the right path in this sense. There is still room for improvement at the top of the pitch. We have scored a few goals, missed a few penalties, squandered some big chances and hit the woodwork on a number of occasions. If we can improve on those things then we will have a solid base to build on.

…the upcoming challenges in the Bundesliga: We want to pick up as many points as possible. We’re taking it game by game, we want to be focussed as we take on each challenge and we will see what comes at the end of it.

…the passionate support of the fans: It was undoubtedly our best performance of the season against Leipzig. You could really feel the incredible connection between the players and the fans. That really helps the team’s performances and we are really happy because it reaffirms the path we have taken.

possible contract extensions: Of course we’re working on extending the contracts of one or two players. We hope to complete them but there are certain parameters that we have to work within as well. We still have time but I don’t have any updates for now.
