Daniel Farke has revealed that midfielder Ethan Ampadu has suffered an injury blow.
The Leeds captain suffered an ankle injury in his side’s opening game win over Everton and is now set to be out for at least a couple of weeks.
“He will definitely be out at least until the international break,” Farke said. “I hope to have him back on the other side of the international break.
“Normally, he’s pretty quick after injury, back on the training pitch and he’s a tough boy, but it’s a blow for us and we will miss him in the upcoming games – at least the two upcoming Premier League games, plus the EFL Cup game.
“He’s a very important player, if not the most important player. It’s not ideal that he’s out after the tackle, but it’s football, sometimes there is an injury and we have to find some other solutions.”
“Of course Ethan is a big miss. There’s no doubt about this. We don’t have to lie and to sugarcoat the situation but we have players in our squad that maybe interpret the role slightly differently but we will find some solutions.”
Leeds have completed the signing of forward Noah Okafor from AC Milan ahead of the game against Arsenal on Saturday, but Leeds boss Farke says he would still like further attacking additions as well as strengthening in the full-back areas.
“We’ve spoken about the full-back position where we need an addition,” he said.
“We have also spoken before these two signings (Okafor and Calvert-Lewin) that we would strengthen our offense.
“Let’s see if we do even more in the offense. One or perhaps two more signings would be beneficial but right now especially with the signings of Dominic and Noah, the big pressure is away and we can concentrate on working with the boys.
“But I wouldn’t rule out perhaps one or two more signings in the offense.”
