The big day has arrived! All eyes will be on Anfield tonight as Liverpool kick off their defence of the Premier League title at home to Bournemouth.

However, for many fans, today marks the start of something even more important – the first weekend of the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

As is traditionally the case, questions abound ahead of Gameweek 1, starting with one which has divided the FPL community.

Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) and Erling Braut Haaland (£14.0m) are the two most expensive players in the game.

With a £100m budget to work with, FPL players have been pondering the merits of picking both players, one of them or neither.

Other conundrums include Arsenal’s central midfield. Who represents better value out of Declan Rice (£6.5m) or Martin Zubemendi (£5.5m)?

The correct answer is Zubimendi, yet only 2.1 percent of managers have selected him compared to 7.6% for Rice. There’s still time to fix that glaring error.
