Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Ciaran Brennan has signed a contract extension at the club.

As confirmed by the Owls’ official website, the defender is now set to stay at Hillsborough until 2024.

Brennan’s previous deal was set to expire this summer but he will now play a role in the club’s future after agreeing terms with Wednesday.

Following a brief loan spell at Notts County earlier this season, the 21-year-old has recently been handed the opportunity to prove his worth in League One by manager Darren Moore.

Brennan has made six appearances for the club at this level in recent months and was an unused substitute during last Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Currently facing competition from the likes of Liam Palmer, Marvin Johnson and Sam Hutchinson for a place in the Owls’ side, it will be intriguing to see whether Brennan is able to secure a starting role during the second half of the campaign.

After the club announced Brennan’s contract extension on Twitter, many Wednesday fans offered their thoughts on the news on the social media platform.
