Former Celtic defender Ramon Vega has shared a report on Football Transfer Tavern website that links him with the ‘vacant’ CEO job at Celtic after the shock departure of Dom McKay last Friday, after just 72 days in the Parkhead hot-seat. While Vega has established a decent reputation in the business world following his playing days coming to an end, his chances of getting the Celtic job range from slim, to remote to more realistically non-existent.

And that incidentally is no slur on Vega himself, it’s just the the Celtic Plc board are happy with their team player, Michael Nicholson and after bringing in an outsider who ‘fresh ideas’ baggage they are going to be disinclined to make the same ‘mistake’ twice in such a short period of time.

Celtic also promoted Nicholson to the Celtic PLC Board when announcing him as the Interim CEO and the official announcement that the former club secretary, a close lieutenant of Peter Lawwell over many years, will be the permanent CEO, replacing Dom McKay, will no doubt happen shortly after a particularly favourable result.

Celtic fans reacted to Ramon Vega’s tweet. “Yes please Ramon you know the Club and us fans inside out and I am pretty sure you will have many modern and fresh ideas to take our Club forward as well as standing up for our Club and fans when needed, this has to happen!”

“Get in there big man! You were superb for us in your short stint as a player. Same performance as CEO will do nicely.”

However a more realistic appraisal here: “You have no chance big man, jobs for the boys at Celtic.”
