When Thomas Müller walked across the pitch after Saturday’s 3-3 draw at RB Leipzig and came across Yussuf Poulsen, he couldn’t refrain from one of his classic jibes. “There’s the party crasher! Since when could you chip?” he called over to the Leipzig striker, whose late equaliser denied Bayern the Bundesliga title that afternoon. But with Bayer Leverkusen also dropping points a day later, Bayern were confirmed as champions. Now, after a chance to recover from the celebrations, Müller and his teammates were able to mark the triumph with fans.

Bayern held an open training session at Säbener Straße on Tuesday, with around 350 fans in attendance to watch and congratulate Vincent Kompany’s champions. Manuel Neuer and the squad were welcomed onto the pitch with applause, while the fans produced a number of chants during the session, like the classic “Deutscher Meister, FCB”. The players and coaching staff later went up to the fans for autographs and selfies.
The roughly 90-minute session also saw Raphael Guerreiro take part once again after his recent adductor issue. Jamal Musiala, who’s been out with a hamstring injury, then made an appearance down on the pitch at the end, much to the delight of the gathered supporters.
While Tuesday’s session was the start of the team’s preparations for Saturday’s final home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, being close to the fans should also get them ready for the title celebrations, including the Meisterschale handover, at the Allianz Arena. “Let’s create a special moment together on Saturday,” Kompany had said after last weekend’s title glory.

Before the celebrations, however, Bayern are focusing on the sporting side of things. There will be no let-up even with the Bundesliga already decided, as Kompany emphasised: “Let’s keep pushing. The season’s not over yet, and there’s still so much to look forward to.” After all, it's all the better to celebrate after a home win.
