Crystal Palace captain Aimee Everett says that the fans can give the team a real boost by coming out in their numbers for the game against Watford at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles go into the match in second place in the Barclays Women’s Championship table, just one point behind league leaders Sunderland. Crystal Palace have played a game less meaning that promotion is very much in their own hands in the closing weeks of the season.

A bumper crowd is expected at Selhurst Park this weekend as Crystal Palace look to take another step towards the league title. Captain Everett says that the fans can really help give the team a boost, just as they’ve done in previous games played at Selhurst Park.

“We recently played Sheffield United there which was nice and then one not so long ago against Southampton where we had a fantastic crowd there,” Everett said when speaking to WSL Full-Time.

“We’ve sold more than 4,000 tickets already, so hopefully, we will get another big turnout and I think it’ll really give us that push this weekend.”

This weekend’s opponents Watford are bottom of the Barclays Women’s Championship table and battling for survival. Crystal Palace go into the game as huge favourites but Everett says that the threat of The Golden Girls won’t be underestimated.

She said “In this league, it doesn’t matter where you are in the table because it doesn’t determine which way a game is going to go. Any team can get the win on their day, so we can’t underestimate Watford this weekend.

“They’re obviously fighting for survival at the opposite end of the table, so that is going to give them just as much as us in terms of wanting to go out and win the game.”

Crystal Palace know that they will be champions if they win all of their remaining games but The Eagles are not looking too far ahead, their approach is to take it one game at a time.

“What’s been evident from the start is that we are not focusing too much on the end,” Everett said. “We are just taking things week-by-week. If we win each of those games, we will be where we deserve to be.”
