Aaron Ramsdale received plenty of love from the Arsenal fans on Friday, following another strong performance in a win over Aston Villa. The goalkeeper seemingly then decided to pass the good feelings on to some at his former club AFC Wimbledon.

Wimbledon faced Wigan Athletic on Saturday, and Ramsdale was in the stands to watch the game.

After the match, Ramsdale was snapped having a bit of a kickabout with some of the young home fans at the ground.

The goalkeeper also spoke to their club website, which you can check out here.

It should be no surprise that Ramsdale still has affection for his old club, despite only spending half a season there on loan.

For a start, it was the loan that helped to kick off his senior career. After his 20 appearances in League One in 2018/19, Ramsdale went on to become a starter for AFC Bournemouth the next season, Sheffield United the year after that, and then Arsenal.

Had Ramsdale sat on the bench for a few months, rather than getting that opportunity to start at Wimbledon, maybe he wouldn’t have ended up on the path he’s on now.

Then there’s the fact that the Wimbledon fans are clearly still so fond of him. They sang songs for him at the recent match against Arsenal, and they’re often in the social media replies congratulating him on his progress.

It’s nice to see the goalkeeper keen to give back in this small way, and it’s sure to add to his popularity among AFC Wimbledon and Arsenal fans alike.
