A fan has now been arrested in the relation to the incident involving referee Anthony Taylor at the Budapest airport yesterday.

Taylor was the centre of controversy yesterday as Jose Mourinho was fuming at some of his decsions. Roma were denied a penalty late in the game despite what seemed like clear handball. Mourinho also stated that Taylor should’ve sent off Erik Lamela for his foul on Roger Ibanez.

The referee and his family were spotted by Roma fans at the Budapest airport yesterday and they were heckled and abused, something which the PGMOL released a statement about and condemned.

The Budapest Airport and the city’s police has released a statement about the incident and have revealed that a fan was arrested yesterday.

“The Italian citizen involved in the incident was apprehended by the police and criminal proceedings have been initiated on charges of affray.

There were no further disturbances at the airport following the police response to this isolated incident. Budapest Airport and the police wish to make it clear that there is zero tolerance towards violence of any kind towards passengers or staff working at the airport.”

Before this incident, Mourinho himself had branded Taylor as a ‘f*****g disgrace’, while also criticising him heavily in the press conference.
