False alarm – Real Madrid veteran not injured, will start vs Real Valladolid | OneFootball

Real Madrid will lock horns with Real Valladolid tomorrow in La Liga, hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The Merengues head into the game without first-choice right-back Dani Carvajal, who is out for the season due to an ACL injury.

Lucas Vazquez, deputising in the absence of his fellow Spaniard, missed the UCL game against RB Salzburg this week due to suspension.

Concerns were raised yesterday, when Vazquez felt a discomfort in his hamstring, in the buildup to Saturday’s La Liga clash against Valladolid.

However, according to AS, it was a false alarm as tests have confirmed that it is nothing serious – a mild muscle strain.

With the derby just 15 days away, the situation was closely monitored, but it turned out to be nothing. The medical staff examined him and confirmed that there was no serious injury, just a minor muscle strain – an insignificant overload.

This slight discomfort will not prevent Vazquez from playing, and, in fact, he is expected to start against Valladolid tomorrow.

The issue occurred during yesterday’s training session when Vazquez felt a sharp pain in his hamstring after a sprint. He immediately stopped and waited to see how it would feel.

This morning, he still felt a slight pain in the area, so it was decided that he would undergo tests. The results showed there was no injury to worry about.

The veteran Spaniard trained as usual on Friday and is now focused on the Valladolid match.

The 33-year-old has played 27 matches across all competitions this season, scoring two and assisting four goals. His defensive vulnerabilities, however, have been a concern for Real Madrid in recent weeks.
