Facundo Pellistri scores first goal in a Panathinaikos shirt | OneFootball

Former Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri opened his account for new club Panathinaikos last night in a 2-0 win over RC Lens in a Europa Conference League play off match.

The Uruguayan played 25 times for the Old Trafford side but did not find the back of the net in a competitive game.

He had a few fleeting moments of quality in a United shirt but was unable to convince either Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Erik ten Hag that he deserved a regular place in the side.

After his involvement in Copa America, he made an appearance off the bench versus Manchester City in the Community Shield at the start of the season before he was sold to Greek side Panathinaikos.

The 22 year old commented after his move that while he enjoyed his time at Old Trafford, he was ready to receive more regular guaranteed gametime and he has already racked up three appearances so far for the Greens.

The winger opened his account for the Greek club in crucial fashion as he scored the first goal in a 2-0 win that overturned a first leg defeat to Lens in the Conference League.

The ball broke to the winger on the edge of the area and he coolly slotted it past the keeper’s outstretched hand to give the Greeks a crucial equaliser on the night.

He wheeled away in celebration of his first goal for his new club, drinking in the electric atmosphere of the Greek fans.

Sofascore gave the former United man a rating of 7 for his 82 minutes of work.

He had 34 touches of the ball and completed 75% of his passes.

Pellistri was successful with two of his six dribbles and won six out of his 15 duels.

He also worked hard defensively making two tackles and one clearance during the match.

So far it has been a very positive start for the young winger, who will hope to benefit from a full season of first team football.
