Manchester United loanee’s Facundo Pellistri and Granada fell to a 1-2 home loss to Celta Vigo in their final home game of the season yesterday.

The Andalusians fell behind to two quick-fire goals after the hour mark but did manage to pull one back through Bruno Mendez in the 86th minute.

They were awarded a late penalty but substitute Antonio Puertas fired against the crossbar from 12 yards.

The home side had 11 shots to the visitor’s eight and were narrowly shaded in the possession statistics, keeping 48% of the ball.

It was too little too late as the home side slipped to a 24th defeat of the season as they stay in 19th place in La Liga table.

From a United interest, Pellistri has played regularly for los Nazaríes, featuring in 14 out of a possible 15 games since his loan move in January.

More to the point, he has started every single one of those games except against Cadiz, where he came off the bench to play the entire second half.

The Uruguay international has been a rare positive in a season of misery for the Granada team and was another bright spark yesterday despite yet another loss.

The winger was given a score of 6.5 on Sofascore in his 89 minutes of action before being withdrawn late in the game.

His biggest moment came just before he was subbed off. After some nice combination football from the home side, he was played through one-on-one but he fired right at the Celta Vigo keeper.

The young winger also had one shot off target and one shot blocked by the Galician’s defence.

The tricky winger also completed his two dribbles and was heavily involved with 37 touches of the ball.

His passing was also crisp and on point as he successfully completed 17 of his 21 attempts for an 81% completion rate.

The season will conclude for Pellistri and his side when they travel north to Girona aiming for only a fifth league win of the season.

In regard to the United winger’s future, he will then return to Manchester to await what the club has in store for him, whether that be another shot at trying to break into the first team, a loan or permanent transfer from Old Trafford.
