Juventus are inching closer towards announcing the arrival of Valencia youngster Facundo Gonzalez, who is undergoing medical tests, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The talented Uruguay youngster emerged as a top target for the Old Lady this summer after his heroics at the U20 FIFA World Cup, where he helped his side to lift the trophy.
The Mestalla academy graduate, who is yet to make a single appearance for Valencia’s first team, will cost the Bianconeri around €3 million.
The 20-year-old is likely to be loaned out by the Bianconeri, with Salernitana in pole position to secure his services.
Salernitana tried to recruit Gonzalez on a permanent transfer, but the young centre-back preferred a move to Turin.
Gonzalez is viewed as a player for the future, and the Bianconeri believe that a loan spell in Serie A will benefit his development.
Having signed Arkadiusz Milik from Marseille and Timothy Weah from Lille, Gonzalez is set to become Juve’s third summer signing.
The Bianconeri are in the middle of an overhaul as several players have already left the club, and there could be many more to follow.
Their priority target remains Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, who has rejected Inter Milan’s offer in favour of Juve.
The Old Lady have proposed a sensational swap deal involving Dusan Vlahovic, but the Blues are yet to respond to the offer.
Juventus will continue the negotiations with the Premier League giants to find common ground as they are keen on prising the Belgian striker away from Stamford Bridge.
