PSG winger Bradley Barcola has been linked with a potential move this summer, with Bayern Munich and, more recently, Arsenal reportedly showing interest. However, one journalist has downplayed the speculation, noting that there hasn’t been any serious progress toward a deal.

With PSG’s depth creating stiff competition for minutes, some players have naturally started weighing their options. Barcola has been battling for playing time alongside Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, which has only added to the transfer chatter.

According to Football Insider’s Mick Brown, Arsenal are evaluating several options for the position, and Barcola is one of the names under consideration.

“Arsenal want to replace Gabriel Martinelli,” Brown told Football Insider. “They’ve been looking at a few options for that positions, some big-name players are on their list, and I hear Bradley Barcola is one of those. He’s a very talented player, he’s got undoubted quality, but he’s not nailed-on at PSG.”

On Saturday, Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG and Bradley Barcola’s representatives are set to discuss a new contract soon, with plans in place since May. PSG’s management and Luis Enrique are very pleased with Barcola’s progress, and the player’s camp is ready to begin negotiations.

Enrique recently stated before the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal contest against Bayern Munich that he wants Barcola to remain with PSG for the foreseeable future.

“Who knows what might happen during the transfer window? But it’s clear that we’ve taken a gamble with our young players,” Enrique said. “Some of them are French, and Barcola was decisive and a key figure throughout the season. He was heavily criticized, as were the other young players, but it’s part of a personal growth process. I hope that can continue at PSG for many years.”

On the “Here We Go Podcast,” Romano recently said that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi intervened to block Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Barcola, making a transfer seem highly unlikely.
