David Datro Fofana didn’t complete his loan move to Charlton on deadline day because all the documents weren’t signed in time according to Fabrizio Romano.

The striker was one of a number of players the Blues were looking to move on before the end of the transfer window, but that failed to materialise.

Datro Fofana joined Chelsea back in January 2023 from Norwegian side Molde in a deal thought to be worth between £8-£10m.

The 22-year-old has made just four appearances for the Blues since joining the club, but has had multiple loan spells.

Datro Fofana has spent time at Hertha Berlin, Burnley and Turkish side Goztepe, but none of those team opted to make the move permanent.

The Ivorian was recalled from Turkey in January due to an injury and has been training with the now infamous “bomb squad’ at Cobham.

Nice and Toulouse were said to be interested in Datro Fofana, whilst Premier League side Wolves are said to have been keen.

There were also reports of interest from the Championship in Datro Fofana, and he appeared set to join Charlton, but that move collapsed and Romano has revealed why.

“Fofana to Charlton, also collapsed with documents not signed in time,” he said as quoted on X.com.

Tyrique George to Fulham also collapsed

Datro Fofana wasn’t the only Chelsea player to see a deadline day move collapse, with Tyrique George’s move to Fulham also falling through.

Chelsea and Fulham had agreed a fee worth £22m for George, and he was set complete his move to Craven Cottage.
